Pharmacy Quality Alliance Meeting

Michael Best Strategies’ partner Michael Heifetz joined a panel discussion with Dr. Shantanu Agrawal, CEO of the National Quality Forum, at the recent 2018 Pharmacy Quality Alliance Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD. Among those who attended were CEOs, medical and policy directors, clinical pharmacists, students, and residents.

The purpose of this gathering was for healthcare professionals and key stakeholders to collaborate and discuss the practices, developments, and quality measures of medication and immunization while optimizing health and managing costs. The range of attendees provided different perspectives and outlooks on the discussions.

Heifetz’s discussion included a high-level look at the president’s “American Patients First” blueprint to lower drug prices and reduce out-of-pocket costs. The blueprint may have a substantive impact on state Medicaid programs, particularly in its new approach to rebates and pharmacy benefit managers. Additional topics included digital therapeutics and the evolving regulatory structure around them, and the value of data in competitive and collaborative environments.
