Rachel is an accomplished healthcare executive who has substantial experience with value-based care, population health strategy, and healthcare innovation. As a Senior Advisor with Michael Best Strategies’ Healthcare Innovation Group, Rachel helps to identify and bring disruptive healthcare solutions to market.
Before joining Strategies, Rachel spent more than 25 years in leadership roles in health insurance and integrated care delivery for leading health and wellness companies. Most recently, she served as Vice President, Risk and Quality Solutions, for OptumInsight, a subsidiary of United Healthcare that provides data analytics, software, and managed services solutions to payors and providers to improve overall health system performance. In this role, Rachel designed and launched a new value and population health management-based offering for providers, including developing performance and relationship management tools to engage and support providers.

Previously, Rachel worked at Humana for over 20 years, exiting the insurer as its Vice President, Retail Innovation Portfolio Strategy. Her key responsibilities included sourcing innovative population health and provider experience solutions and piloting high value use cases. Her test-and-learn portfolio included predictive analytics informed by non-traditional risk triggers, a provider relationship management system, and reimagined prior authorization solutions designed to reduce provider friction. During her long tenure with Humana, Rachel served in leadership roles in provider engagement, business development, and network strategy. She also gained expertise in operations, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and relationship management.
