Trevon focuses on government relations, legislative advocacy, and strategic communications to help clients implement legislative change and advance their business objectives.
Prior to joining Michael Best Strategies, Trevon served as the Senate Liaison in the Office of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. In this role, he oversaw the legislative agendas of ten state agencies and managed a legislative portfolio that included issues related to early childhood education, K-12 education, college affordability and accessibility, public safety, and elections. He also worked with agency officials, legislators, and advocates to ensure that legislation moving through the General Assembly aligned with the Governor’s priorities.
Earlier, Trevon was Member Services Manager for the Illinois Senate Democratic Caucus’ communications department where he advised various members on communications and messaging strategy around pending legislation and key issues. This included crafting and executing media engagement plans, often in collaboration with stakeholders and policy coaitions, to maximize press coverage and garner grassroots support for high-profile initiatives.
Trevon also gained valuable experience as Communications Director for the Tennessee Democratic Party. He crafted op-eds and speeches, spearheaded digital fundraising campaigns on behalf of the state party chair and Democratic candidates, and revamped the party’s communications strategy.
