WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Michael Best Strategies (Strategies) is announcing the recent addition of two accomplished public policy professionals to its DC office.

Margaret Franklin and Brett Ewer boast years of public policy experience, making them a perfect fit to the elite team Strategies continues to bolster. These additions underscore Strategies’ commitment to providing our clients with the knowledge, connections, and experience they need to secure wins on Capitol Hill.

About Margaret Franklin – Margaret, a seasoned public affairs professional, has left an indelible mark in the worlds of government relations and legislative leadership. Previously serving as Vice President at Fulcrum Public Affairs, she managed an array of clients across various industries. Margaret has extensive knowledge of financial services, including capital markets, monetary policy, and housing finance. Prior to her role at Fulcrum, Margaret held influential positions in Congressional offices including Alma Adams (D-NC) and Al Lawson (D-FL), where she displayed an innate ability to build bipartisan support. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Howard University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

In November 2019, Margaret made history by becoming the first African-American woman to be elected to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. Throughout her time in office, she held several positions, including serving as the Vice Chair of the Board of Supervisors, Chair of the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Operations Board, Virginia’s only commuter rail system, Chair of OmniRide local transportation commission, and Chair of the Economic and Workforce Development Committee for the Virginia Association of Counties.

About Brett Ewer – A trusted advisor to corporate leaders in a variety of industries, Brett stands out as an advocate and communicator with more than a decade of experience in government relations, strategic communications, public affairs, media relations, and crisis management. Most recently, Brett served as the Head of Government Relations for CrossFit, bringing to bear his experience in health, tax, small business, and defense policy. Previously, Brett served at the Podesta Group, leading advocacy campaigns and advising clients on government, public, and media relations. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colby College and was recognized in 2022 and 2023 by Washingtonian Magazine as one of Washington DC’s 500 Most Influential People.
